  14. Improvements & new features since version 3.0a:

  17.  - fixed a major bug that caused MovieMUI to crash on 68000er based Amigas.
  18.  - MovieMUI  now  needs  MUI 2.2.  As as result it is now possible to cycle
  19.    through registers in title-windows.

  30. Improvements & new features since version 2.8:

  33.  - MovieMUI  3.0  has  been  completely rewritten.  I am using a completely
  34.    different  database format now.  This makes database access more than 10
  35.    times faster.

  37.  - The GUI has been redesigned.  It is possible to open more than 30 output
  38.    windows  at  the  same  time.   Clicking on any entry will perform a new
  39.    search and open another window.  This way you can easiely browse through
  40.    the  whole  database  and proof that Kevin Bacon indeed is the center of
  41.    the universe :-)

  43.  - MovieMUI  can  be  accessed  via ARexx-Port.  Any feature of the GUI  is
  44.    supported  by  the  ARexx-Port  as  well.   This  package  contains some
  45.    ARexx-Scripts  that  perform  special  tasks  not  supported by the GUI.
  46.    Another   ARexx-Script   allows   implementing   the   MovieDataBase  in
  47.    Transamiga-BBSs to support online queries by users of this BBS.

  50. A short info about the MovieDataBase for new users:

  53. With this database, you have direct access to about 34,000 movies with over
  54. 390,000  filmography  entries.   The  database  includes  filmographies for
  55. actors,   directors,   writers,   composers,   cinematographers,   editors,
  56. production  designers,  costume  designers  and  producers; plot summaries;
  57. character  names;  movie  ratings;  year  of  release; running times; movie
  58. trivia;  quotes;  goofs;  soundtracks;  personal  trivia  and Academy Award
  59. information.   Several  thousand  of the movies are covered completely from
  60. the major actors to the minor bit players.
  61. A fully featured graphical user interface makes the program easy-to-use.

  67. Update / Installation of the MovieDataBase 3.0:
  68. -----------------------------------------------

  70. If you want to use _all_ features of the MovieDataBase, you need to have at
  71. least  20-30  MB free diskspace and about 2 MB Ram.  A fast processor and a
  72. fast harddiskdrive is very recommended.

  74. The complete database consists of the following files: 
  75.  
  76.     * mdb3_0b_bin.lha    contains the main program, the documentation
  77.                          and some ARexx-scripts.
  78.  
  79.     * mdb3_0a_data1.lha  contains all databasefiles, except for the 
  80.                          cast lists. You do need this file!
  81.  
  82.     * mdb3_0a_data2.lha  contains all actors and their characternames. 
  83.                          Although you don't necessarily need this file
  84.                          you wouldn't want to miss it (What is a movie-
  85.                          database without actors?).

  87.     * mdb3_0a_data3.lha  contains all actresses and their characternames.

  92. Note:   you may not use the databasefiles that came with mdb2.8 any longer.
  93.         You can, however, still use the databasefiles of mdb3.0.

  96. Installation:
  97. -------------

  99. - Unpack the binaries-archive.  You don't need to unpack the data archives.
  100.   The installer-script will do this for you.
  101.  
  102. - If   you   have   about   40   MB  diskspace  available, simply  run  the
  103.   installer-script  by  double-clicking its icon.  If not, read the chapter
  104.   about installation in the MovieMUI.guide file.
  105.  
  106. Please  report  any bugs and/or difficulties you had while installing/using
  107. the movie database.
